Also known as a fire truck, it refers to a vehicle designed and manufactured to be suitable for firefighters to use, equip with various types of fire equipment or extinguishing agents, and used by the fire brigade for firefighting, auxiliary firefighting, or fire rescue purposes. Most national fire departments, including China, also use it for other emergency rescue purposes. Fire trucks can transport firefighters to disaster sites and provide them with various tools to carry out disaster relief tasks.
Modern fire engines are usually equipped with steel ladders, water guns, portable fire extinguishers, self-contained breathing apparatus, protective clothing, demolition tools, first-aid tools and other equipment. Some of them also carry large fire-fighting equipment such as water tanks, water pumps, foam fire extinguishers and so on. The appearance of fire trucks in most areas is red, but there are also some areas where the appearance of fire trucks is yellow. This is also true for some special fire trucks, which usually have alarm bells, sirens, lights, and flashing lights on the top. Common types of fire engines include water tank fire engines, foam fire engines, dry powder fire engines, remote water supply fire engines, lift fire engines, ladder climbing fire engines, etc.
In December 2018, the General Office of the State Council issued a notice on matters related to the hanging of emergency rescue special license plates on national comprehensive fire rescue vehicles. The notice pointed out that the hanging of special license plates on national comprehensive fire rescue vehicles meets the requirements for executing and ensuring emergency rescue tasks.
