Pumper Fire Truck (engine): Pumper fire trucks, also known as engines, are the most common type of fire apparatus. They are primarily designed to provide water to extinguish structure fires. They hold a tank of water for the initial attack, and they can also pump water from nearby hydrants for a larger and more continuous water supply.
Aerial Ladder Truck: Aerial ladder trucks are specialized for reaching high and hard-to-reach places, such as multi-story buildings. They provide an elevated platform for firefighting and rescue operations.
Heavy Rescue Vehicle: Heavy rescue vehicles are designed for technical rescue operations, including vehicle extrication, building collapse, and other specialized rescues.
Wildland Fire Engine: Wildland fire engines are specially designed for combating wildfires. They are built to handle rough terrain and can access remote areas.
Quint Fire Truck: Quint fire trucks are versatile apparatuses that combine the features of a pumper and an aerial ladder truck. They provide both firefighting and rescue capabilities. The name “quint”, short for quintuple combination pumper, is derived from the fact that they are designed to provide 5 distinct tools.
Tiller Truck: Tiller trucks, or tractor-drawn aerials, feature a unique design with a separate, steerable rear trailer section, making them highly maneuverable in tight urban environments, despite their size.
Brush Truck: Brush trucks are small, agile vehicles designed for wildland firefighting and off-road terrain. They have smaller water tanks, usually around 200 to 500 gallons.

Fire Suppression: The primary function of fire trucks is to suppress fires. They carry water, foam, or other fire-fighting agents and use hoses, nozzles, and pumps to deliver them to the fire's location.
Rescue Operations: Fire trucks are equipped with tools and equipment for performing various rescue operations, including extricating individuals from vehicles, providing medical aid, and rescuing people from dangerous situations.
Ventilation: Firefighters use fire trucks to create ventilation by cutting roof holes or breaking windows. This helps remove smoke and heat from burning buildings, improving visibility and safety.
Wildfire Control: Fire trucks are vital in combating wildfires in forests and remote areas. They often work alongside ground crews to contain and extinguish fires.
Airport Firefighting: Airport trucks are specifically designed for firefighting and rescue operations at airports, where aircraft-related emergencies can occur.
Hazardous Materials Incidents: Hazmat trucks are dispatched to incidents involving hazardous materials, where they work to mitigate risks, contain spills, and protect the environment.
After the fire truck water pump is used, turn on all the remaining water switches on the pump to release the remaining water in the pump. After the remaining water is discharged, turn off all the switches to prevent freezing and use it next time.
After the water pump has used sea water, sewage, corrosive water flow and foam mixture, run it with clean water for more than 1 minute to clean the residual liquid in the pump. Regularly check the lubricating oil in the bearing, if it is lower than the oil level, it should be supplemented. After using the fire pump in winter, run the piston pump several times to drain the remaining water in the piston pump to prevent freezing. The pump is strictly forbidden to run for more than 1 min without water for a long time.
